01 · The name
羽
Ø
My name is Yu. The character is 羽 — two 习, one beside the other. Practice, and practice again. Lifelong learning is not a line I added to a profile. It is what the name already asked of me, and what I still intend to do.
Under it, Ø. Danish. Said aloud it sits close to 羽. I love what the letter means: island. It stands for my island.
Everything after that — the studio, the classroom, Copenhagen, the universities — is the same motion in a different room. Learn the place. Then make something that can travel.
02 · The studio
Quellimax
I started in film. I founded Quellimax, 极致传媒, a studio that moved between short films, exhibition design and commercial work. We produced four short films and more than twenty advertising videos.
The three below are the ones I still point to. Together they passed twelve million views in China. I was not only a producer: on other productions I also directed, wrote, and worked as artistic director.

03 · The classroom
学术英语
Then a classroom in Datong. I taught IELTS at New Oriental, and English stopped being only a subject. I had to make a difficult thing feel close — for a specific student, on a specific afternoon.
Alongside that I built 学术英语 AcademixEnglish: a WeChat voice, a brand, and later courses carried on Tencent Education. Teaching was my first real lesson in audience. Film had been the story. This was the person on the other side of it.

04 · The north
Copenhagen
I went to Denmark for a master’s in film and media at the University of Copenhagen. I worked part-time at Nordgreen, freelanced on social media for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark, and learned Danish to B2.
I also opened a channel, 北欧电影 NordiCinema, to carry Nordic film culture toward Chinese audiences. I kept writing my own plots. The city was a second education: another coast, another way of looking.

05 · The return
Higher education, from the inside

I came back to China and into higher education — not as a retreat from the earlier work, but as the place it could meet. At Grok Global Service I led digital marketing for six QS Top 1000 universities, supporting student recruitment in Asia.
Then Tianjin, and The Tianjin Juilliard School. Digital strategy across China, the United States and South Korea. A bilingual site. Search, analytics, Douyin, LinkedIn, Bilibili. Reports a leadership team can actually use. Brand work held in line with Juilliard in New York, without flattening what is local. Since 2025 I have also served as secretary of the school’s AI sub-committee.
The tools change. The question does not: how should an institution be understood by people who do not already know it?
06 · The harbour
A continuous entrepreneur
I multitask, and I would not pretend otherwise. I call myself a continuous entrepreneur — not because I collect companies, but because I keep starting the next useful thing inside the work I already have. A studio. A teaching brand. A film channel. A consulting practice for institutions that need China to be specific.
The island is me. The harbour is how I meet the world.

Film, classrooms, ministries, conservatories, the people who cross between them. Ships do not become the island. They arrive, exchange, and leave clearer than they came.
